Titre : Striatal Dopamine Transporter Alterations in ADHD: Pathophysiology or Adaptation to Psychostimulants? A Meta-Analysis Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Paolo Fusar-Poli, Auteur ; Katya Rubia ; Giorgio Rossi Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : p. 264-272 Note générale : Nouvel abonnement. Reçu le 3 Mai 2012 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Déficit de l'attention hyperactivité dopamine TDAH Résumé : Striatal dopamine transporter abnormalities are thought to underlie the pathophysiology and psychostimulant treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). However, individual studies using single photon emission tomography (SPECT) or positron emission tomography (PET) have yielded inconsistent results, i.e., both high and low striatal dopamine transporter levels. Striatal dopamine transporter density in ADHD appears to depend on previous psychostimulant exposure, with lower density in drug-naive subjects and higher density in previously medicated patients. The present study examines the hypothesis that the three antiepileptics approved for bipolar disorder (carbamazepine, lamotrigine, and valproate) are associated with an elevated risk of suicide attempts and suicides. Fluoxetine treatment, compared to placebo, resulted in significantly greater improvement in repetitive behaviors, according to both the Yale-Brown compulsion subscale and CGI rating of obsessive-compulsive symptoms, as well as on the CGI overall improvement rating. Fluoxetine appeared to be well tolerated. These findings stand in contrast to findings in a trial of citalopram for childhood autism. [Thesaurus n°1] Troubles psychotiques:SchizophrénieMots-clés : cholinergique recepteur nicotinique Résumé : There is a strong association between cigarette smoking and schizophrenia. Nicotine's actions in the brain are mediated through nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. Those containing a4 and ß2 subunits are the most abundant ones in the brain, have the highest affinity for nicotine, and are critical in mediating nicotine's reinforcing properties. Healthy tobacco smokers have significantly higher levels of ß2*-nicotinic acetylcholine receptors than do nonsmokers. Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=74059
