Mass media and moviemakers still often convey inaccurate and stigmatizing representations of these experiences, constituting a barrier to early access to care. Yet, several epidemiological surveys confirmed that hallucinations are polymorphic, and found in many different contexts ranging from general experiences to pathology, challenging the idea that they would always be synonymous with mental illness. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : MALADIE INFLAMMATOIRE TROUBLE DU COMPORTEMENT TUMEUR ISOLEMENT THERAPEUTIQUE STRESS Résumé : Objective: The objective of this retrospective study was to investigate the peripheral immunological markers using leucocyte count, the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and the monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR) in patients with aggressive behavior, during and after seclusion. Methods: Ninety-nine inpatients were included in this retrospective study. Leucocyte count was measured, and NLR, PLR and MLR were calculated and compared between a group of patients who required seclusion and a group who did not. A multivariate analysis was performed using binary logistic regression, including confounding factors such as age, gender, medication, BMI, smoking status and diagnosis. Results We found the lowest levels of lymphocytes (P = 0.01) and basophils (P < 0.01) and the highest NLR (P = 0.02) and MLR (P = 0.04) in the seclusion group. We also found a restoration of these parameters after the end of the seclusion period. Furthermore, we found a positive correlation between the PANSS negative subscore, and PLR (P = 0.05), or MLR (P = 0.03) after seclusion, and between the MLR variation across the seclusion period and the PANSS general subscore after the end of seclusion (P = 0.04). Conclusion: This study shows that NLR and MPR are higher in patients with aggressive symptoms and/or agitation who require seclusion. These immunological markers could be considered as state markers.[résumé d'auteur] En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666304 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121517

Titre : Adaptation and validation of the muscle dysmorphic disorder inventory in a population of French athletes (MDDI-Fr) [Adaptation et validation du « muscle dysmorphic disorder inventory » dans une population de sportifs français (MDDI-Fr)] Auteurs : CUADRADO Jérôme, Auteur ; HANNE POUJADE Sandrine, Auteur ; MICHEL Grégory, Auteur Année de publication : 2024 Article en page(s) : 247-256 Note générale : 48 réf. bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : OUTIL D'EVALUATION DYSMORPHIE MUSCULAIRE FRANCE SPORT Résumé : Introduction: Muscle dysmorphia, a theme mainly investigated by Anglo-Saxon research, is a specific body dysmorphic disorder that characterizes individuals who think they are insufficiently muscular and lean. Understudied in francophone countries, tools translated and validated in French to measure the symptomatology of muscle dysmorphia remain rare.
Objectives:The aim of this study was the translation into French and the psychometric validation of a tool evaluating muscle dysmorphia, the Muscle Dysmorphic Disorder Inventory (MDDI-Fr), through 13 items divided into three dimensions: the “Drive For Size” (DFS), the “Appearance Intolerance” (AI) and the “Functional Impairment” (FI).
Methodology: A first translation step was conducted, followed by two cross-sectional studies conducted in France. In both of the latter studies, a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Muscle Dysmorphic Disorder Inventory – French version (MDDI-Fr) were administered. The first study included 342 university students (Mage = 20.9; SDage = 2.9), and 1822 athletes for the second study (Mage = 23.9; SDage = 5.9). Validation was performed using internal consistency measures and confirmatory factor analysis.
Results: The correlation matrices showed good significant results between items and dimensions. The three dimensions appeared distinct from each other with significant intra-dimension correlations. The internal consistency of the tool and its three dimensions show valid Cronbach's alphas (study 1: DFS = 0.79, AI = 0.74, FI = 0.75, MDDI = 0.74; study 2: DFS = 0.72, AI = 0.75, FI = 0.83, MDDI = 0.75). In addition, the tri-factor analysis shows significant and promising scores for the tool in three dimensions and 13 items for study 1 (χ2/df = 4.67, CFI = 0.85, TLI = 0.83, RMSEA = 0.10, SRMR = 0.00), as for study 2 (χ2/df = 16.08, CFI = 0.87, TLI = 0.84, RMSEA = 0.09, SRMR = .06). Gender analyses were conducted on study 2, which showed that the DFS subscale (items 1, 4, 5) and the AI subscale (items 6 and 9) presented the greatest differences in factor loadings between genders.
Conclusion: The translation, as well as the validation of the MDDI-Fr structured with 13 items and three dimensions, showed significantly satisfying results for its adaptation in French in a population of French men and women practicing weight training. However, the “Appearance Intolerance” dimension shows moderate links with the global tool, which should be investigated in future studies. Although the psychometric properties of the MDDI-Fr are promising, additional research is needed to gain a better understanding of gender differences in the results, especially for the DFS dimension.[résumé d'auteur]En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666306 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121518

Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : ENTRETIEN STRUCTURE DE LA PERSONNALITE BORDERLINE FRANCE TROUBLE DE LA PERSONNALITE FORMATION PSYCHIATRE INTERNE HOSPITALIER Résumé : Background: Borderline personality disorder is a common and treatable personality disorder that is often underdiagnosed and untreated, mainly due to a lack of training of psychiatrists and to a lack of accessibility to specialized therapies. However, no study has been conducted in France regarding this issue. Thus, we aimed to evaluate on a national scale the level of training, knowledge, and general attitude toward BPD diagnosis of French psychiatrists.
Methods: We conducted an online survey in an unselected population of residents and senior French psychiatrists between January and March 2022, the results of which are presented descriptively.
Results: 228 psychiatrists fully answered the questionnaire, and 21 more psychiatrists answered it partially. We found that most of the responders were unsatisfied with the residency training or the continuing medical education offered regarding BPD, a lack of training resulting in a low level of self-confidence regarding BPD management, in a low number of evidence-based therapies trained psychiatrists in issues regarding diagnostic disclosure, and in misconceptions regarding some aspects of the disorder.
Conclusions: These results underlie a clear lack of training of French psychiatrists, as well as a request from the latter for more opportunities to learn. This calls for a rethinking of the teaching system to incorporate more knowledge and tools related to BPD.[résumé d'auteur]En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666307 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121519

Titre : The purpose of early maladaptive schemas (EMS) in the relationship dysfunction among people with bipolar disorder in the euthymic phase [Rôle des schémas précoces inadaptés (SPI) dans le dysfonctionnement relationnel des personnes ayant un trouble bipolaire en phase d’euthymie] Auteurs : DUPOUY Manon, Auteur ; ROUX Paul, Auteur ; MUNUERA Caroline, Auteur ; PASSERIEUX Christine, Auteur ; M'BAILARA Katia, Auteur ; WEIL F, Auteur Année de publication : 2024 Article en page(s) : 265-274 Note générale : Tabl./Fig./81 réf. bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : DSM TROUBLE BIPOLAIRE RELATION INTERPERSONNELLE SCHEMA COGNITIF INADAPTE Résumé : Objectives: Although free from characterized manic and depressive episodes, the euthymic period in bipolar disorder (BD) remains characterized by a whole host of difficulties, particularly relational. These difficulties are factors of vulnerabilities and relapses. People's perception of their own relationships has an impact on their symptomatology, their responses to treatment and on relapse rates. Young's early maladaptive schemas (EMS) approach proves to be relevant for understanding the construction of these perceptions and working on them. Nevertheless, to this date, few studies have investigated which EMS are related to relationship dysfunction in this particular population. Determining the link between EMS and relationship difficulties would be relevant to understand psychosocial impairment of people with BD in euthymic states. The present study aims to investigate the associations between the different domains of EMS and relationship dysfunction among patients with bipolar disorder in the euthymic phase.
Methods: Data are extracted from the FACE-BD cohort, within the BD Expert Center in Versailles. Inclusion criteria were to be aged between 18 and 65 and to be an outpatient with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder (DSM-IV-TR). Patients had to be euthymic at the time of inclusion, according to DSM-IV-TR criteria with a cut-off score of 14 on the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale and the Young Mania Rating Scale. Non-inclusion criteria were meeting at the time of the study the criteria for characteristic depressive episode, hypomania or mania according to the DSM-IV-TR. Sociodemographic data, clinical features associated with relationship dysfunction were assessed. EMS and EMS domains were assessed with the YSQ-R short form (Young Schema Questionnaire 3 Short Form) and current relationship dysfunction were assessed with the FAST (Functioning assessment short test subscale). Successive simple linear regression analyses were performed to investigate the association between the severity scores of each EMS and the intensity of relationship dysfunction. Furthermore, successive simple linear regression analyses investigated the association between EMS domain scores and intensity of relationship dysfunction. Multiple linear regression analyses were performed to test the association between EMS scores, then EMS domains, and the intensity of relationship dysfunction after adjusting for age as well as the intensity of residual depressive and manic symptoms.
Results: Relationship dysfunction is partly associated with EMS activation in particular in the separation and rejection domain (P < 0.0001), the other-directedness domain (P = 0.031) and the over-vigilance and inhibition domain (P = 0.005). Having residual depressive symptoms is also among the factors contributing to the relationship dysfunctions of people with bipolar disorder in the euthymic phase.
Discussion: This is the first study demonstrating that the activation of several domains of EMS is a risk factor of relationships difficulties for people in euthymic phase of bipolar disorder. It is necessary to identify which EMS are specifically activated and their domains of belonging in order to prevent and reduce them. EMS are a lever for functional remission. It is therefore relevant to refer people reporting relationship problems to schema therapy consistent with a personalized care. Finally, future studies should focus on the mechanisms underlying the complex relationship between EMS domains and relationship dysfunction in people with bipolar disorder in the euthymic phase. It may also be relevant for future research to control for different types of relationship dysfunction. EMS may be differentially associated with several types of interpersonal problems. The relations between different adaptation styles and EMS should be further investigated to offer more personalized care, with the aim to improve functional remission.[résumé d'auteur]En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666308 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121520

Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : COVID-19 INTERACTION RELATION HOMME ANIMAL QUALITE DE VIE BIEN ETRE Résumé : Background: COVID-19, the economic and the political crises happening in Lebanon, have enforced social distancing and isolation, causing severe psychological states. However, these psychological consequences have highlighted the aim behind the interactions between humans and animals. In this study, we aimed to investigate the interaction between humans and animals and to compare the well-being and quality of life of the Lebanese pet owners in Lebanon in the face of stressors currently experienced and animals’ companionship. Methods: An observational cross-sectional retrospective design was involved in this study. The study enrolling 314 participants via an online survey was conducted between March 2021 and May 2021. The questionnaire used was pre-tested and participants were given the choice of not participating. Participants were Lebanese and over the age of 18; they responded to questions regarding their interactions with animals and the impact of different stressors on their mental and physical state.
Results:The study's findings indicate that most participants perceived their animals as a valuable source of support, and there was a significant correlation between the strength of the bond with their companion animals (as measured by the Comfort from Companion Animal Scale (CCAS) (R = 0.14, P = 0.009)) and their well-being. Additionally, the study revealed that individuals who had a closer relationship with their pets engaged in more physical activity, socialized more through social media during the pandemic period, and maintained better relationships with their parents and other relatives. However, the results showed no significant correlation between individuals’ quality of life and their interaction with animals (R = 0.10, P = 0.07).
Conclusion:The positive impact of human-animal interaction on human well-being has been observed in Lebanon under various stressors. This impact is closely related to the strength of the bond between humans and their animals. During the pandemic period, having a companion animal was found to promote human well-being by encouraging physical activity and social interaction. It is noteworthy that emotional and psychological health was not affected by the number of animals an individual owned. However, the recent COVID-19, political, and socio-economic crises in Lebanon have raised serious concerns regarding the psychological state of its citizens. Thus, further research is needed to address the issues highlighted in this study. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : EPUISEMENT PROFESSIONNEL SANTE MENTALE SAPEUR POMPIER ENQUETE Résumé : To date, there has been little research on burnout in firefighters despite the acknowledged impact of occupational stress on both individuals and society. According to a survey conducted by the French National Research and Security Institute, the annual cost to society of occupational stress in France is 2–3 billion euros. The aim of the present study was to assess the prevalence of occupational burnout in a large and representative sample of French firefighters. A nationwide survey was conducted in 2021, targeting all categories of firefighters (except for military firefighters in Paris and Marseille) both in metropolitan France and in its overseas departments and territories. This survey came in two parts: questions eliciting basic sociodemographic and job-related data, followed by the Burnout Assessment Tool which assesses the intensity of job-related burnout. We collated results for 3038 firefighters: 2418 men (79.59%), 619 women (20.38%), and 1 gender neutral (0.03%). Findings revealed that while 2455 respondents (80.8%) did not meet the criteria for burnout, 345 (11.4%) reported mild/moderate symptoms of burnout, and 238 (7.8%) could be deemed to have severe burnout symptoms. Further research is warranted into the causes of burnout and its prevention in this specific population.[résumé d'auteur] En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666314 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121522

Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : GYNECOLOGIE DOULEUR PSYCHOLOGIE QUALITE DE VIE Résumé : Objectives: Endometriosis is a chronic and progressive gynecological disease that affects 1 to 2 out of 10 women of childbearing age in France. The objective of this research was to understand the factors determining the quality of life of the patients who experience significant pain symptoms (75%), distinguished by the extent and depth of the lesions. The second objective was to evaluate the psychological repercussions of this pain. We will therefore assess the various psychological processes involved in explaining quality of life. Method: In total, 1039 women aged 18–55 years completed a self-administered questionnaire, assessing different types of pain and intensity, body image (BIS), self-esteem (Rosenberg), anxiety-depressive symptomatology (HAD), and quality of life (SF-36). Socio-biographical and medical characteristics of the patients were also assessed. Results: Analyses of variance showed that patients with chronic pain had lower self-esteem and body image, more anxiety-depressive symptoms, and a poorer quality of life than women with cyclic pain and those without pain. Regression analyses showed that the determinants of physical and mental quality of life differed significantly according to the type of pain experienced. Conclusion: The consequences of the pain associated with endometriosis reveal multiple problems that can be considered from a new perspective. Although psychological disorders can be a response to pain phenomena they can also contribute to their increase. This is where the challenge lies in providing comprehensive care.[résumé d'auteur] En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666315 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121523

It is also a recognized predictor of relapse in addictology. To date, no scale for measuring tobacco craving is available to Moroccan clinicians. This work proposes a cross-cultural validation of the Tobacco Craving Questionnaire (TCQ) in its short version. Methods: This work consists of the creation of a translated version according to a rigorous methodology and the evaluation of its psychometric properties in a statistical study. Results: The validation study was done on a sample of 130 smokers with a majority of men (95%). It showed a high acceptability and homogeneity with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.82. The four scale factors showed a high discriminant validity. Finally, the scale showed high reproducibility with an inter-observer stability of 0.95 and 0.94 between tests and retests. Conclusion: The Moroccan version of the TCQ-12 scale shows good validity indices for measuring craving in Moroccan smokers and also shows that it measures independently the four clinical dimensions of the scale.[résumé d'auteur] En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666317 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121524

Valid and reliable instruments are necessary to document the hearing voices experience across cultures. The Hamilton Program for Schizophrenia Voices Questionnaire (HPSVQ) is becoming a widely used self-administered instrument for assessing characteristics, content and subjective effect of AVH. This study investigates the psychometric characteristics of the HPSVQ French version (HPSVQ FV) in a clinical sample of voice-hearers. The results showed that the HPSVQ yields a global score (HPSVQ-Global) as well as a distress (HPSVQ-Distress) and a severity (HPSVQ-Severity) sub-score having good, acceptable and questionable internal consistency respectively. Significant correlations were found between hallucination severity (BPRS 4.0), distress (PSYRATS-AH), voices acceptance (VAAS-9), anxiety and depression (HADS). However, no significant associations were observed between Suspicion and Unusual Thoughts (BPRS 4.0). At a one-week interval, the temporal stability of the three indices was excellent. Moreover, after a brief cognitive intervention, a significant reduction was observed in all indices. Taken together, the HPSVQ FV demonstrated good construct validity, reliability and sensitivity to change. These findings support the use of the HPSVQ in francophone clinical and research settings. However, the bi-factorial solution of the HPSVQ FV should be further examined in larger samples.[résumé d'auteur] En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666318 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121525

Pharmacological treatment can reduce the symptoms associated with ADHD, but it has some limitations. The objective of this symposium is to determine the effects of non-pharmacological approaches on ADHD symptoms. Results indicate that the following intervention are promising approaches: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions (MBI), yoga, cognitive and metacognitive intervention, neurofeedback and parental training programs. Current research advocates multimodal approaches in conjunction with school or work accommodations integrating innovative technologies.

Clozapine or quetiapine are usually prescribed for this indication despite their side effect profile since they have a lower impact on motor functions. Pimavanserin is a new serotonin 5-HT2A inverse agonist indicated for Parkinson's disease psychosis without an effect on dopaminergic receptors. We present the case of a 59-year-old female patient with LBD with no psychiatric history presenting with severe delusions, visual hallucinations, and intolerance to several antipsychotic drugs including clozapine.[introduction] En ligne : https://www.em-premium.com/article/1666333 Permalink : https://ch-poitiers.fr/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=121532
